Q640 (Cumberland - Buffalo)
and Q641 (Buffalo - Cumberland)

Q640-04 is westbound on #1 track with CSXT 8754 (an SD60I) and HLCX 6074 (an SD40-2) pulling 114 cars at 14:40 pm on May 4th, 2002. We are looking eastward from a point about 200 yards east of the Bailey Road signals at mp BG123.5.

Same train a few moments later, leaning into the curve at the signals. We normally don't see a cut of Conrail 50 footers at the head end of this train. Very fun!

At 14:45 on the following day, May 5th, the same leader is on the point of Q641-05 and seen from almost the same location as the middle photo in this series, just 75 paces or so east. It is not unusual for Q640 and Q641 to meet hereabouts. You can almost set your watch to these trains.
