To repeat a paragraph from the front page: The physical Flyover actually begins where the Youngstown Line descends below grade as the Fort Wayne Line ascends above grade to get itself over the Beaver River. The two fort Wayne mains diverge slightly, like the center of an hourglass.
We are looking timetable east on track #1 of the Fort Wayne Line. Across the cut is track #2. The Youngstown Line is descending below grade between the two Fort Wayne mains. As all four tracks reach the Beaver River, the Youngstown Line swings northeast underneath #2 track of the Fort Wayne Line and follows the Beaver River on the east shore through the town of Beaver Falls. Meanwhile, the two mains of the Fort Wayne Line come back together, the #2 main crosses the Youngstown Line, and then both immediatly cross the Beaver River on a deck girder bridge.
We have turned around and are now looking timetable west. Again, we are on track #1 of the Fort Wayne Line, and across the cut is track #2. Both mains of The Youngstown Line are passing underneath track #2 and once past it will follow the Beaver River. Just past the Flyover is the bridge that carries the Fort Wayne Line over the Beaver River and the CSX Pittsburgh SD. New Brighton Park is parallel with the Fort Wayne Line. The northern end of it winds up between the Youngstown Line and the Fort Wayne Line at the Beaver River, where a turnaround for the park road exists. From this road one can safely and legally photograph both the viaduct and the bridge over the river.
The viaduct that carries #2 track of the Fort Wayne Line over the Youngstown Line is a sturdy looking affair that was built around 1928. We are looking timetable south on the Youngstown Line as well as due south this fine Autumn morning. #1 track is in the foreground. Anybody got a list of trains past this location?
